Katerina Papachristou
Katerina Papachristou is a Berlin-based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.
Musician, composer, singer/songwriter and performer, she likes to experiment with different music genres, instruments and sounds and works across different forms, such as compositions for theatre, dance performances, songwriting, performing, collaborating with other musicians and creating soundscapes. She plays electric bass, piano, synths and guitars and often experiments with double bass, vocals, percussion, harp and other instruments.
She has studied Electric Bass and Music Theory and Analysis with Yiotis Kiourtsoglou at the Contemporary Music Department of the Philipos Nakas Conservatory of Athens, Greece. She has also studied at the Department of French Language and Literature of the University of Athens and has an MA in Translation Studies.
Her singer/songwriter stage name is Tango with Lions. Her performances vary from solo to full band shows, while on stage she likes to switch between piano, bass, guitars and synths, with her style stemming from indie rock/pop, americana and even post-punk influences. She has released four studio albums via Inner Ear Records (“Verba Time” 2010, “A Long Walk” 2013, “The Light” 2018, “you.me.”, 2022) and various self-produced songs and singles: Dreaming of Tokyo (2013), Deer’s Eyes (2019), Anorexic Beauty (Pulp cover) (2020), The Strike (2021) and Heart-shaped Box (Nirvana cover) (2024).
As Tango with Lions, she has opened the stage for various acclaimed international artists (Matt Elliott, Mark Lanegan & Isobel Campbell, The Nits, The Bernard Lakes, Warhaus, Cigarettes after Sex etc.) and has collaborated with a number of artists and record labels worldwide.

Experimenting with poetry and writing, in 2020, she wrote and handcrafted the poetry book “Have I ever told you” with a 2-track digital album which was released on Bandcamp, featuring the songs “3:22am” and “intermission”.
Since 2019 she has been performing and composing music for theater productions and dance performances.
